ACES Research Academy
Helps new faculty navigate the road to tenure. The academy offers grant-writing workshops, information on managing time effectively, assistance from senior faculty on developing a tenure plan and preparing tenure documentation, and tools for monitoring, identifying, writing, and securing research funds. A trip to Washington, D.C., helps participants develop both relationships with agencies that may be able to provide them with funding and strategies for presenting their work to these agencies. Faculty are nominated by their departments.

DoD Grant Writing Workshop
This half-day workshop will give an overview of health research opportunities at the DoD and cover how to develop a competitive proposal. A representative from Lewis Burke Associates will talk about best practices and a panel of scientific and consumer reviewers will give an insider prespective on the DoD review process.

Faculty Training Workshops
The Grainger College of Engineering Office of Research organizes faculty training workshops on an as-needed basis to help faculty be responsive to opportunities and knowledgable in subjects that are relevant to expanding the research enterprise of the College. Discussions on future, more regular workshops are ongoing.

Foundation Fellows Program
This program will guide faculty through the process of writing a proposal to a private foundation from solicitation to submission.

NIH Grant Writing Series
The program is designed to prepare junior faculty to submit an individual investigator proposal, such as an R01 or R21, to the NIH. The 6-week seminar series, led by faculty with a history of NIH grant success, is open to anyone on campus. A cohort of junior faculty nominated by their departments are also assigned to a mentor and participate in a specific aim peer review workshop.

NSF CAREER Workshops
The program is designed to better prepare eligible junior faculty to submit successful CAREER proposals to NSF. 1 session is a panel of former NSF CAREER awardees. The second session is a series of short presentations by various potential partners around campus and in the local community who can help researchers develop the education & outreach portion of their proposal. The final workshop is a mock-panel review led by more senior faculty, in which prospective proposers step into the role of a panel reviewer and do a review of actual CAREER proposals that have been submitted by our faculty.

Savvy Researcher Workshops
These workshops, led by subject experts, explore various topics relevant to research and academic success. They include topics like data sharing, poster presentation and design, and curating your online scholarly identity. Additional workshops for groups of 5 or more can be requested using this form.
